SAMP Labs Receives CAP Accreditation

Middleburg Heights, Ohio — January 12, 2025 — SAMP Labs, a community-based clinical toxicology laboratory, has earned accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), demonstrating its commitment to the highest standards of laboratory quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

CAP accreditation is widely recognized as the gold standard in laboratory medicine. The accreditation process includes a rigorous on-site inspection conducted by practicing laboratory professionals and evaluates quality systems, personnel qualifications, analytical performance, patient safety, and compliance with federal and industry standards.

“CAP accreditation is critically important to SAMP Labs because it validates the systems, discipline, and integrity behind everything we do,” said Saurin Patel, CEO of SAMP Labs. “For the behavioral health and substance use treatment communities we serve, trust and reliability are essential. Achieving CAP accreditation reinforces our commitment to delivering results providers, patients, and payers can rely on with confidence.”

This accreditation further strengthens SAMP Labs’ ability to partner with healthcare providers, health systems, and managed care organizations while maintaining a community-focused approach to high-quality laboratory services.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, established in 1961, utilizes teams of practicing laboratory professionals as inspectors. Based on a detailed and focused checklist of accreditation standards, inspectors examine the clinical laboratory’s records and quality control procedures, safety program, staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, and overall management and operation of the laboratory. The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education and standard setting; ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
